Your Partner in Civil Engineering and Community Development

As my career has evolved, I’ve realized that my most valuable contribution to communities is sitting along side them as a Infrastructure Advisor. You can think of this role in the following ways:

  • Funding Navigator: I’m like your "Google Maps" for finding money for infrastructure and planning projects. Funding programs are always changing, and staff in funding organizations often come and go. My job is to keep track of these changes and help you navigate the various funding systems.

  • Getting Projects Off the Ground: As a professional engineer, I can guide you through the steps of your projects. I’ll help you plan what needs to be done, and I’ll work with you to turn frustrations into clear actions, making it easier to start and finish projects.

  • Weaving Projects Together: It’s frustrating when you invest in a project and then the information sits unused. It’s also a challenge when work done in the past doesn’t connect with other initiatives. I’m here to help make sure that every project contributes to the bigger picture, making each initiative more useful and impactful for your community.

  • Translator: Engineers can sometimes struggle to communicate their ideas in ways that resonate with the community. I'm trying to change that by building skills that translate technical engineering concepts into language that everyone can relate to. This includes helping make technical reports useful for both engineers and community members who rely on them. I also enjoy facilitating meetings between technical teams and community leadership to ensure everyone collaborates and feels heard.

  • Organizer: I thrive on keeping things organized and on track. I’ll help ensure action items are addressed in a timely manner and that nothing slips through the cracks. My goal is to help keep your team organized and focused, so each step brings you closer to achieving your project goals.

Collaborative Advantage: Enhancing Your Teams

Partnerships with engineering firms and/or architects are essential for any community to achieve its infrastructure development goals. Hiring Creswell Consulting doesn’t change that; instead, I complement these teams:

  • Strategic Big Picture Thinking: I bring a holistic, long-term approach to your projects, helping align them with your community’s broader goals and priorities. With over 100 infrastructure and planning projects under my belt, I offer valuable experience that considers all aspects of community planning.

  • Connections with Funders: My established relationships with funding organizations can help open doors for your community. I bridge gaps that often exist between funding groups, which has lead to securing millions funding for capital planning and infrastructure projects over the years.

  • Understanding Funding Programs: With in-depth knowledge of various funding sources, I can help navigate funding timelines and the decision-making processes, ensuring your community receives the support needed to bring projects to life.

  • Finding the Right Teams: As an engineer, I can help you identify the right engineering and project teams to execute your plans. I’ll stay engaged throughout the project to ensure the community understands potential risks, and together we can address challenges and find additional support if needed.

  • Historical Engineering Knowledge: Hopefully, I can build long term relationships with your community. This familiarity with your community’s past projects can bring continuity and consistency to new teams, ensuring that previous work is leveraged and that we avoid redundancy or miscommunication.

  • Procurement Knowledge: I understand the procurement processes required by funders, which often require projects to be tendered in an open market. This can be stressful for communities unsure of who they’ll be working with or what they’ll receive. I can assist you with navigating procurement options, preparing request for proposal documents, and evaluating bids from an engineering and consulting perspective.

Strengthening Community Expertise and Capacity

Through Creswell Consulting, I aim to take a collaborative approach to building internal capacity. We all have something to learn from each other, how can we best use our strengths and gifts to achieve great things. Here’s how we’ll build community expertise together:

  • Collaborative Support: We’ll work together through each phase of your projects, combining expertise and knowledge across all team members to achieve the best outcomes while enhancing internal skills and confidence.

  • Empowering Through Engagement: By actively being involved with your teams in all stages of planning, design, and implementation, we’ll build hands-on experience and reinforce the team’s ability to manage future initiatives.

  • Strengthening Internal Connections: Let’s work to enhance communication and collaboration between departments, ensuring all parts of your team are aligned and working toward shared goals.

  • Sustaining Long-Term Capacity: It’s been a true privilege to witness directors and administrators grow in their roles through our collaborative work. This teamwork is key to building sustained capacity for the long term.
